What: Permanent exhibition from Leopold Museum, Vienna
Description: Established in 2001, offers a unique overview of the work of Austrian Expressionism, including Gustav Krimt and Secessionuists
I visited this museum last year. It was one of the best museums I have been during the trip, since I am pretty into Austrian Expressionism which includes Secession. Secession is (not academically speaking) a movement which fits kind of in-between impressionism, art-deco and modern art. I have been attracted in impressionist and decorative arts, so it's just a perfect storm.....the uniqueness of Austrian Expressionist is that it sometimes shows the real darkness inside, attraction to death and really twisted forms....I have not studied enough to talk about it, but really interesting stuff.
Again, these are not the works which are famous, but those I liked...I did not take the famous works because you can easily find them online or books. If you like Klimt, Kokoschka or Schiele, totally check it out. They have a really good stuff.
